SCSN Caravan 09 eNewsNo. 19 - 9/11/08>>>TOP STORY<<< >>PLANT TOUR BOOKINGS BEGIN<< As of today, the Bowling Green Assembly Plant, where the Corvette is manufactured, is booking tours for two of the days Caravaners will be at Bowling Green after the 2009 National Corvette Caravan ends. Plant tour bookings cannot be handled by the SoCal/SoNev Section Organizing Team. You must register for plant tours at the web site the Plant maintains. The web address is: http://www.bowlinggreenassemblyplant.com/ We suggest those wanting plant tours make reservations soon. Plant tours always fill-up completely for the Museum's Labor Day event and since Corvette production has been cut significantly compared to previous years, there are less days per week that the plant is running. The SoCal/SoNev Section will arrive Wednesday evening leaving you Thursday, 3 Sept 09, and Friday, 4 Sept 09, on which to schedule tours. The plant is not scheduled to run on Saturday or Sunday so, obviously, there will be no tours. You can, also, schedule tours during the following week. >>>OTHER NEWS<<< >>CARAVAN MERCHANDISE: ON SALE<< The SoCal/SoNev Caravan Organizing Team has made a deal with Captain "Tuna" Dobbins of the TX Panhandle/Oklahoma Section of the Caravan to handle sales of Caravan merchandise for our section's Caravaners. Currently available are: Caravan flags $20.00 Prices include shipping. Payment is by check or money order. Sorry, no credit cards are accepted. For an order form, please email Tuna or Susan Dobbins of the TX Pan/OK Section at okcaravan2009@yahoo.com Two different Caravan t-shirts and a Caravan sweatshirt are available direct from the Corvette Museum Store. The t-shirts are not the same as the free shirt you get with a Caravan Registration. More information on shirts and sweats can be had by going to http://www.corvettecaravan.com/ca-southern/ and clicking the "caravan merchandise" link. >>FUND RAISING: TIRE RAFFLE II BEGINS NOW!< Our second fund-raising raffle for a set of Goodyear tires starts immediately. Each raffle is for four of any Goodyear tire for Corvettes or other passenger cars or light trucks. The winner of each raffle gets the opportunity to buy a set of tires for $750.00. To enter the current raffle, send an email to "Commander" Sherry Maples at caravan2009@cox.net and request entry to the raffle. Your name will be entered. When the raffle ends, Ms. Maples will pick a name as the winner along with some alternates. The winner will be offered a chance to buy a set of tires for $750.00. Once the winner's check is received, he/she will get, by return mail, a certificate redeemable at any Goodyear dealer for the tires. >>NEVER...EVER FORGET<< On 11 September 2001--seven years ago, today--2588 citizens , 343 firefighters, 60 police officers and 8 other first responders were slaughtered by islamic extremists during suicide attacks on New York City and Washington D.C. and near, Shanksville PA, the defeat of a second attack destined for Washington, DC.
